A slickly produced picture that enjoys better direction, editing and acting than the story possibly deserves. Many unlikely events pepper the story but if you are willing to suspend disbelief you will probably enjoy the action and suspense. Russell Crowe carries this picture, the camera is on him at least eighty percent of the time. Crowe's somber character in a seemingly hopeless situation gets a little trying after two hours, but I sat there wondering how, or even if, the Crowe character was going to overcome this seemingly impossibly situation. Interestingly, this and the last movie I attended dealt with the same theme of rescuing a loved one from an unjust legal system. The former, 'Conviction' - based on a true story - dealt with working within the legal system for a positive outcome, while this picture involved working completely outside of legality with a less than perfect outcome but not necessarily a less satisfying one for the audience.
