What starts out as a promising romp gets derailed by a horrid 2nd act only to be saved from utter mediocrity by a fun 3rd act. Flat characters (Especially Corey Stoll as one-dimensionally cruel Darren Cross) don't help it's case. Still, some bits of clever & fun movie-making shine through. One has to wonder what this would've been like had Edgar Wright kept on.
