Tired of these catastrophic American formula films: overuse of special effects, unnecessarily convoluted stories, blatantly moralistic and spiced with voluptuous females for the delight of the target audience, adolescent minded males? Here is The Snowpiercer! This interesting cross between Noah’s Ark and Orwell’s Big Brother, spiced with the struggle for survival, class wars, brutal repression, bloody revolt… just to name the most apparent. This Korean film is intelligent and riveting. The violence is raw and abundant as expected in Asian films, but it never overtakes the narrative. If this film could reach a wider audience, I believe it could reach «cult film» status for the genre, like Blade Runner in another era.
