Black Swan

This picture is a Natalie Portman show piece. Nothing much makes a lot of sense in terms of character and motivations, but instead the main point of this picture is to showcase Portman's acting skills in an obvious play for the Best Actress Oscar. I sat in the theatre unable to suspend my disbelief as to the way in which the characters interacted with each other and could not understand what their motivations were. Life in this picture was more like living in a concentration camp than in a professional ballet company. Having said that the picture did offer a certain amount of thrills and chills leading to some suspenseful and shocking scenes. Not the picture for lovers of Ballet in general and Swan Lake in particular.
