    Children of Men

Writer/director Alfonso Cuaron has created a so-called science fiction tale that is deliberately unrealistic, as the phenomenon is not likely to come to pass in the next 12-18 months. I see his thin plot as simply a post on which to hang his real story.. a world of chaos fed by fascism and anarchy which will ultimately cause its own destruction. The violence, then, becomes its own message. Marvelously edited, the film moves at a tremendous pace with few quiet moments. However in one quiet scene Claire-Hope Ashitey appears as vulnerable as anyone I have ever seen on the big screen.
