Classic David against Goliath story except that Goliath has 3 heads: a corrupted local justice department, a greedy and rootless mayor and an in-slavering religious representative. The religion makes sure that the sheep stay docile, the mayor steels from the sheep and the justice department makes sure that those who will uproar against any of the first two are sent to prison. This story is set in a little village in Russia but this depicts what happens in any societies that are economically challenged and ill-educated and where the triumvir at of politics, justice and religion piggy-back on each other for the benefit of a few. It is surprising that the Russian Ministry of Culture let that one out. It is not tender toward their system and leaders even though they try to depict the personas as drunken bastards. To me, it reveals an underlying societal discomfort spread-out and cautioned by their government. Actors and photography are excellent.
