Man of Steel

This is by a long shot the worst rating I've ever given a movie. I had no expectations whatsoever going into this so movie. I hadn't heard nor seen anything about it.

The one bright spot was the casting of everyone except Lois. The special fx looked like Star Wars episode one. I'm not kidding. Even the people who liked the movie commented how bad the writing is. I don't know if they were trying to do comic book style writing, but the cheesy one liners (and I don't mean funny one liners, but dramatic ones) were awful. The editing is super choppy and the storyline jumps around too much without any flow. The action sequences are boring and horrible looking. They are all a cookie cutter of each other. The camera work is sub-par, especially in anything resembling action.

Let's recap:

writing = terrible

casting = half decent

cinematography = sub par

storyline = terrible

special effects = the worst I've ever seen for a big blockbuster for its time

There are movies I ended up hating like TMNT, but I understand it was written for a15 yr old boys (Mike Bay himself said it) and I will always give credit to things that were done well in movies I hate. This however, other than the casting of Superman (everyone else I could take or leave but were fine for the most part except Lois), nothing else in this movie stands out in a positive way. I didn't even like Superman per se, but that's because of his dialogue. They still cast the right guy for the role.

I had to convince myself to up my vote to a 3 because nobody takes 1's or 2's seriously.
