This flick was a lame attempt at bringing the "glory days" from the second World War and the seeming invincibility of the US during this terrible time in history. Too much was crammed into this movie to try to give it scope but instead littered it with fragments of information that was neither accurate nor had any point but to stroke the vanity of the producer. The character development was feeble and to add insult to injury, having a ground commander who was black and smoked a pipe (Cuba Gooding Jr.) smacked of the battle of Britain and not an emotionally-bludgeoned black group of leathernecks. If more money was spent on dialogue, character development and they had dropped the feeble love interest of a single flyer, it might have been a movie worthy of enduring the almost zero casualty rate, endless CGI flying scenes overrun with pointless radio chatter and wasted facial contortions that substituted for meaningful dialogue. Oh, and lets not forget the undocumented 262 German jet fighter kills. This is a goobligooked movie that neither tells us if it is a continuation of the 1995 remake before this remake or in what way it contributed newer valid insights.
