Risen

This movie is truly incredible! Joseph Fiennes portrays Clavius with such conviction and believability, though the cast as a whole was solid, it is Fiennes who really stands out. The journey of his character is captivating. I don't remember watching the trailer before seeing the film, but watching it now gives me chills. Although the film is beautiful, there is of course some violent and disturbing content. This film is unique in that it can appeal to both Christian and non-Christian audiences: it is (mostly) historically and biblically accurate, yet tells the resurrection story from a new perspective, giving it a freshness that appeals to the general audience.
