An entertaining and informative look at the Health Care System in America and other selected countries from the viewpoint of filmmaker Michael Moore. Only the most closeted among us will be surprised that Moore provides a one-sided view of Health care delivery. But this is not a problem per say, after all, this is a documentary film not a TV news story. If you know Moore's view on what's wrong in America you'll know that the status quo is going to be attacked - the entertainment comes in watching how he will do it. His attack this time is both funny, sad and thought provoking. If you live in Canada, the UK or France you can only feel good about your universal health care system after seeing this picture.

I think the Canadian health care system, although it does have it's flaws, the people who really need the care immediately get it, those who can wait, do. I had a huge health scare where they thought I was having a stroke (it turns out it was a type of migraine) and they took me in and gave me care RIGHT AWAY. But no health care system beats Sweden. My brother had a liver hemmorhage in Sweden and got state of the art care right away for FREE. My parents even got a free apartment near the hospital so they can stay with him! The hospital has a school so sick children can keep up with their studies. Everything is state of the art, better than Canada even! The doctor said that if my brother had been in Canada, he would have died because they don't have the tools to do what they did to save my brother's life. Even better, the doctors, nurses, and orderlies all have pedometers to count their steps. Whoever has the most steps at the end of each month gets a free trip to Paris! This is perhaps why Sweden has the highest rate of life expectancy in the world, even though all they eat is pork meatballs, and everything is drenched in cream sauce and fried. So if you have to be sick, do it in Sweden.
Canadians could have the benefits of the Swedish system we just have to demand it from our politicians. Our leaders are in office to serve Canadians, but instead they mostly serve corporations that are receiving welfare in the form of subsidies, tax holidays and direct cash handouts. Its time Canadians demanded more and better from our public health care system, write your provincial leaders and demand better, they will listen.
