A cheap trick in modern filmmaking, Signs attempts to thrill the viewer with mostly the suggestion of action rather than the real thing and one-dimensional characters that are rather unbelievable and therefore kind of creepy. It's also quite lame for Hollywood to think that it has to use a far-flung idea like spacemen invading earth as the vehicle for a simple story of a man who regains his faith in God after the death of his wife. Surely Hollywood doesnt take us to be this shallow, does it? Ed Wood move over!
