    The Comedian

De Niro has a way of underplaying a role that makes it seem over the top without pushing you away... This is one of his best. Leslie Mann both contrasts De Niro's character and stands as a protagonist on her own. DeVito and Keitel round out a cast of masters that put a lot of life in this film. It is one of the few I have seen lately where the primary characters actually grow and change without losing the essence of where they were in the beginning. Oh yes, and did I mention that in some places it's funny as hell. I did become overwhelmed by the non stop bluest language I can imagine, though bad words don't generally bother me all that much. At one point I felt that the film trivialized our seniors. But see it. And be widely entertained, if you dare.
