This movie," The Martian", excels where the movie "Gravity" failed. Special effects aside, as they run about a close parallel in reality in both films, there's something in this film that makes the difference. There is a plot, a truly fantastic plot reminiscent of the close call with Apollo 13 near disaster and emphasized how much grander the risk would be considering the distance of Mars as opposed to the Moon. The characters were believable and the acting and editing were flawlessly executed. I did find it odd that the only storm of note was the one in the opening scenes. This is truly a wonderful film revealing the terrific emotions and solutions that all involved would emit. Not one character was out of line and is a glorious romp through the human experience. Definitely go see this film, especially in 3D, on the big screen, splurge for the large popcorn and pop and relax if you can in this great movie.
