Having read the novel," Winter's Tale " by Mark Helprin more than twenty years ago, I had hoped for years that it would be brought to life, but obviously a 900 page book cannot be put into two hours of screen time. If this had been made into a mini series I'm certain the reviews would be through the roof. It is much much more than just a love story. I've been an avid reader for many years and I have to say that I've never read a more enjoyable and fascinating story from such an incredibly gifted writer. I, for one, do not read romance novels. This defies genre. I did, however go in with an open mind and loved it. I challenge anyone to read the book and the negative critics will probably love it as well. I look forward to seeing it again. The acting was great, the story, well, a fantasy and the surprising twists are fun to experience. Read the first five pages of the book. If you're not hooked, I apologize.
