La isla minima (Marshland) is a brilliantly crafted thriller by the Spanish director Alberto Rodriquez. Two city cops with an ugly past were sent to investigate the disappearance of young girls in an isolated town in southern Spain (the Andalucia marshlands) This character driven format superbly captures the personal, social and political tensions of the town and its time period. The cinematography and acting by all cast members were excellent I hardly had to read the subtitles.
