Having seen this movie maybe 10 times in whole and another 10 in part on television and once in the theatre and being from Alabama, I feel well qualified to say this movie is one of the best films ever. You get the humor and the REAL idea of how things were (are) in the deep south. I used to visit friends in Savannah and ride the "Maid Special" bus out to Tybee Island for the day. After about 3 days the maids became friendly and even brought me sandwiches and desserts. Some of the stories I heard on that bus mirrored the stories told by this movie. I hope to see it again on the big screen. I think I gave it a 7 or 8 when I first saw it, but it grew on me.
