Though it starts out slow and a wee bit awkwardly paced," Cold in July" ultimately delivers a fairly satisfying Southern-fried Neo-Noir. Sam Shepard is perfectly cast as the curmudgeonly and sometimes utterly menacing, Ben Russell and Don Johnson's just a regular ol' firecracker. It's also nice to see Michael C. Hall in something other than gol'durned "Dexter".
