This is a powerful movie that shows the reality of war. Some of the images are very difficult to watch. The first is the background of Desmond's life and explains his reasons of being against killing even in wartime. Mel Gibson did a good job at directing. Garfield is excellent ; should be nominated for awards. There is violence but it is not just for the sake of showing violence. It shows the horrors of war and how extraordinary of a hero Desmond was. One of the best movies if not the best this year. Acting by all the cast was top notch as was the direction.
