Thanks to the media, cynicism is not uncommon when we talk politics, with all its irritating and infuriating foibles. And yet, Lisa Sfriso didn't check her idealism at the door when she decided to make the founding of a new left-wing party in Québec the subject of her first feature documentary. Following Françoise David, Amir Khadir, their cohorts and a group of committed activists, she chronicles the arrival of Québec solidaire on the province's political scene. It's a complex, dangerous arena where utopian messages need to be tempered with a dose of reality, and the new team's slogan -- declaring the possibility of a different world -- is harshly put to the test. An intimate portrait of a passionate group, the film is an uncommon behind-the-scenes look at the uniquely complex human drama of politics.
