Ellis was the first ever musician to fuse together Jazz-Rock-Classical and his version of World Music long before anyone thought of doing it. His one-of-a-kind compositions and arrangements cannot even be played by the top Jazz Artists today. His Electric Orchestra turned Jazz on its head and changed the course of the genre forever. A complete non-traditionalist, Don Ellis and his Bands played in the 1970's with Rock Bands such as Janis Joplin and The Grateful Dead. No other Jazz Artist was ever marketed in such a way. Ellis crossed-over into new paths and never looked back creating music that is simply put, remarkable!
Now completely forgotton, ELECTRIC HEART makes an attempt of bringing the name of Don Ellis back to the forefront of Jazz & beyond where it has always belonged. He died of a heart attack in 1978 at only 44 years old, having accomplished more in his era than any musician alive then and today.
