For the last five years Tourism has been one of the industries which has shown sustained and constant growth both in Argentina and in the world. This story is about the different possibilities to carry out an activity which can be of vital importance to a country and to the way the world will look upon it. The way a country relates to this industry is the way a country feels and protects its territory and natural resources. The structure of this plot is based upon the social and moral consequences of the way countries deal with the tourism industry; this is shown through the story of two main characters who at the beginning are antagonists and stereotypes of different worlds but who finally get together to face the threat of having their moral values as well as the natural resources of their land destroyed. What would happen if one day, unexpectedly, a stranger who could threat the strong puzzle the locals have been creating for more than a century arrived in the village? Could love and the fact of getting to know a place act as the missing part? This is the story of a city man -Thomas Bullrich- and Joseph, a local fisherman, who blend their antagonist worlds into only one spirit against the power of big corporations which are insensitive to looking after a unique and marvellous natural world. Thomas works for an international company which devotes no time to caring for the natural resources of this country or any other. He is sent to Peninsula Valdés, a region in Patagonia, under false pretences in order to investigate and get the town people's agreement to settle down a giant tourist venture disregarding the regional economies. Thomas Bullrich arrives in Peninsula Valdes as a representative for a multinational company which wishes to settle an exclusive five star hotel at any cost, not caring about the impact such huge settlement would have on the vulnerable natural conditions of the place. After having been in contact with the town people's generosity and getting to know a marvelous world which was completely new to him, he is naively unmasked and his identity is revealed by a certain guy (Captain Morelo) who seems to be lord and owner of the place. Having his true identity revealed but bearing no bad intentions Thomas is desperate about his mission failure. Thomas eventually meets José -- a wise man who knows the place very well but who is completely illiterate in the art of writing- and as his last resource Thomas establishes a very useful interchange of knowledge that is vital to each other. Thomas teaches Joseph how to read and write and Joseph shares with him his years of experience in contact with the land, the scenery and the fauna of the place. From this moment on, they get to know each other and an affective bond grows between them through which they learn to join their wisdom against the hegemonic power of indiscriminate money. Thomas undergoes a metamorphic process due to the things he lives and learns in that place and Joseph gradually grows self-confident now that he can count on his own written word. Through this wide universe of interchange between antagonist worlds where differences, far from being an excluding matter, can be complementary, the story shows a myriad of shades of the human spirit that fights against corrupted power as well as its richness. Thomas starts getting engaged with and committed to the place while he begins to experience new sensations and to fall in love in a land where people fight for a better tomorrow. Through the power of his words, Joseph also finds the courage to relate to the social world and begins to enjoy the freedom of having access to modern life. Through their knowledge and personalities, they show us that it is essential to combine both universes to fight against the corrupted power of money and to bear the dramatic consequences of pain and real losses. Finally, with José's -and later Thomas's- caring attitude and the participation of a community which is highly committed to the conservation of the incredible natural resources they have in Peninsula Valdes, they get to neutralize the most merciless spirit with the only communion of the profound caring of a privileged region of the Natural World.
