Last Hat in Town chronicles a year in the life of three western icons as their livelihoods are radically affected by the booming gas industry.

Nathan claims he was born to be a roughneck in the gas fields. Addicted to crystal methamphetamine, which is spreading through these rural communities at epidemic levels, Nathan is incarcerated in the county's community correctional facility. With the odds against him, he attempts to break his fierce addiction, reconnect with his young daughter, and get back to work on the gas rigs.

Steve is a third generation Colorado rancher. His ailing cattle business is kept afloat by money from his gas drilling leases. Yet, the gas industry's impact on his land is further hampering his efforts to raise cattle. As the drought intensifies and the gas wells multiply, he is forced to consider radical business alternatives for his family's massive land holdings.

    T. Ray is a vagabond cowboy poet living in a twenty-one foot RV he calls "the tin tipi." Nearing 60, he hasn't bucked a bale or broken a horse in a few years. His weathered Stetson, massive mustache and seasoned voice give his wry lyrics about his dying lifestyle unmatched potency. He yearns to find a place to call home where he doesn't wear the last hat in town.
