    Brazilian Western

Faroeste Caboclo (Brazilian Western) is a Portuguse language film from Brazil. It is not a western in our sense, the setting being 1980, the title Brazilian Western, a folk song, becoming an allegory of sorts for what will happen in this new mythic contemporary West. A young criminal in attempting to escape the law heads for a "primero" or first cousin for help. It contains every element of the western genre including a corrupt sheriff or cops and corruption of one type or other. What will be his fate jumping from the frying pan into the fire? Can salvation come to him in this hell hole in which he has taken refuge?
