Three women and three men from Africa wake in Rome: Patience and Joan in squats, Destiny, Steve, and Souleymane in apartments, and Mamadou in a park. Work and survival intertwine through dance teaching, hairdressing, pizza delivery, occasional prostitution, an African clothing store, family photography, music, and philosophy. They find joy in a world gentler than the one they left, yet dream of a country easier still than Italy, while missing distant parents. Their moods mirror post-war Romans as depicted by neorealism. Beyond the times, their will to live in the so-called eternal city grants them an eternal right.
