Burning an Illusion

A young British-born black woman is forced into encounters with sexism and racism in her attempt to negotiate some kind of future in a community where patriarchal power often erupts into street violence. As the heroine finds herself drawn into black militancy and feminism, a good chance is missed to develop the character of her more passive friend who wants no truck with 'Africa'.
