Set in the aftermath of the Vietnam War, often referred to in Vietnam as 'the American War,' this story captures the perspective of documentarist Tiana Alexandra-Silliphant (Tiana Thanh Nga). Spanning three decades of footage, it weaves together striking visuals and a score by Philip Glass with exclusive interviews featuring General Vo Nguyen Giap, the architect of the North Vietnamese Army's historic victories over French and American forces. A poignant meeting with Robert McNamara adds depth to this historical narrative. Simultaneously, it traces a Vietnamese-American woman's personal journey to reconnect with her birth country, witnessing its transformation from post-war devastation to a vibrant, modern nation.
