Before there was the 2017 Dunkirk film with splashy, computer generated special effects in almost every frame, there was Dunkirk from 1958. Made by the famous British Ealing Studios with MGM funding, it was a powerful, gripping and sobering tale of soldier bravery. In honor of Veterans Day, we are presenting this film free of charge. One of the most significant moments in the history of British warfare is given reverent but reserved treatment in this movie. The film takes place during the 1940 evacuation of Allied troops across the English channel. One party of British soldiers becomes detached from the rest of the retreating Allies.
