Mewtwo, a bio-engineered Pokémon created from the DNA of the rare Mew, escapes its lab and seeks to prove its superiority. It lures talented Trainers, including Ash and his friends, into an unprecedented battle. Ash's excitement turns to fear when Mewtwo unveils its domination plan, cloning the heroes' Pokémon to erase the "imbalance" between Pokémon and Trainers. Despite Ash's protests, Mewtwo denies that Pokémon and humans can be friends -- until the young Trainer's loyalty forces reconsideration, especially against the enigmatic power of Mew.
