In 1983 as Roald Dahl prepares his book "The Witches" for publication, his career faces backlash against a recent literary review of the picture book "God Cried" about the siege of West Beirut by the Israeli army during the 1982 Lebanon War, which is considered antisemitic. Mounting pressure forces Dahl to decide whether to issue a public apology or stand by his words, knowing his reputation hangs in the balance.
