Godless

Gana (Ivanova), a home-visiting aide to the elderly, treats her frail indigent charges with rough disdain, and steals their government ID cards for a fraud scam she runs with her auto mechanic boyfriend, a smalltime gangster. Joyless group sex with a corrupt local judge, drugs, and petty crime make up a bleak picture of life in a rural factory town, but Gana's encounter with a fragile former political prisoner, director of an amateur choir, leads to a brief epiphany for which she may pay a terrible price.
