In Dolpo, a village at an altitude of 5,000 meters in the Himalayas, Tinlé, the village chief, whose eldest son has just died, refuses to allow the young Karma to lead the yak caravan. Karma, however, disregards Tinlé's decision and goes. Soon Tinlé follows him. The caravan goes through difficult trails where each step taken could be fatal. During next weeks, men, women and children accompanying huge herds of yaks will struggle against the nature's cold winds and avalanches.
