The first and only documentary ever made on Cheikh Anta Diop, Senegalese intellectual and trail-blazing scholar with an insatiable thirst for science and knowledge. His seminal work, "Nations nègres et culture," written in 1954, stirred controversy with its conclusion that ancient Egypt was a black civilization. KEMTIYU traces the life of Cheikh Anta, including his education in France and his return to Senegal at the time of Senghor's presidency. Venerated by some, decried by others, and unknown to most, KEMTIYU is the portrait of a man who fought his whole life for truth and justice in order to restore a sense of historical awareness and dignity to Senegal and to Africa.
