    Returning from Africa, renowned explorer and hunter Captain Spaulding receives a lavish welcome at the estate of influential society matron Mrs. Rittenhouse (Margaret Dumont), where a valuable painting suddenly disappears. With assistance from his silly secretary Horatio Jamison, the intrepid Captain Spaulding sets out to solve the crime amid confrontations with the anarchic Signor Emanuel Ravelli and his eccentric sidekick The Professor.
