La stanza del figlio

Giovanni Sermonetti, a psychoanalyst in Ancona, lives with his wife Paola and two adolescent children. Loving his work and family, he is shocked when his son and a schoolfriend steal a precious fossil. One Sunday, he visits a patient who calls in unwell rather than spending time with his son Andrea. The boy goes scuba diving with friends but dies from the bends. The family endures a long, heart-rending mourning period exacerbated by misunderstandings and their different ways of facing the tragedy. After much suffering, they receive a letter from Andrea's young girlfriend that may be the remedy they seek.
