Le gros Bill

One winter in the village of Saint-Gatien-Ouest, a stranger steps off a train from the city just as the radio in the Fortin family's spacious kitchen announces a criminal's escape in Montréal. The stranger identifies himself as Joseph's heir, a Fortin family member who had exiled himself to the United States, claiming the fallow land his father left behind. Spontaneously likened to the giant Beaupré, the man is welcomed warmly, and through his impressive physical and moral qualities, the Gros Bill fulfills the aspirations and dreams of Saint-Gatien's inhabitants.
