Mon Rak Transistor

Pan, an upcountry dimwit who loves to sing as lead of his local band, marries Sadao, his love at first sight, and enjoys a simple life with her. Drafted into the army, he wins a singing contest, goes AWOL, and joins a famous Bangkok band. Reunited with Sadao only to separate again by unfortunate events, he becomes one night star, then accidentally kills the manager, flees to sugar-cane plantation, commits theft, and ends in prison. Years later, after failures and hardship, he looks back nostalgically on happier days with his transistor radio, missing Sadao and the baby he never saw.
