Secrets of Great Salt Lake

Water connects all life on Earth. Mammoths, camels, and saber-toothed cats roamed Lake Bonneville's ancient shores before one of history's largest floods created Great Salt Lake. Unusual creatures thrive in its five-times-saltier waters, fed by freshwater from the Rockies snowpack where mountain lions raise cubs and Olympic skiers train. The waters flow past aspen trees, the world's largest living organism, through a refuge where grebes dance and millions of birds gather, to the lake and islands where pronghorn and bison roam. Dedicated scientists, indigenous leaders, farmers, and youth work to sustain this vital watershed for all.
