Shanty Tramp

A rural southern gothic that really kicks you in the teeth. The story of a scheming no-good ho who brings nothing but trouble everywhere she goes. She causes the downfall of a crooked revival preacher, falsely accuses an honest black man of rape, and generally destroys the moral fiber (however loosely woven) of a small southern town. A kind of minor masterpiece with exceptional performances, direction, photography, and script.
