Shoes

Eva Meyer (Mary MacLaren) is the sole worker in a family that includes her mother (Mattie Witting), her father (Harry Griffith) -- who prefers to stay in bed and read, rather than work -- and three sisters. Somehow, she supports them all on a meager salary from her job at a five-and-dime store. The few dollars she earns per week barely cover the grocery bill, and Eva cannot afford new clothes or shoes.
