In writer/director Carla Simon's touching autobiographical film, six-year-old Frida (Laia Artigas) looks on in silence as the last objects from her recently deceased mother's apartment in Barcelona are placed in boxes. Now an orphan, she is taken to live with her aunt, uncle and three-year-old cousin Anna (Paula Robles) who welcome her with open arms to their home in the idyllic Catalan countryside. But Frida misses the city and hates the country and has trouble adjusting. Time passes differently in her new home, and the nature that surrounds her is mysterious and estranging. She now has an impressionable little sister to take care of, and she has to deal with new feelings, such as jealousy.
