A young boy, Nikola, coping with domestic change as his family adjusts to life in post-Communist Serbia. Nikola's father earns a meager living teaching music. His mother, who cares for the elderly, feels she must reinvent herself. Nikola, all but abandoned by his parents, finds comfort in being with his mother's elderly charges.
