Many people dream of playing professional sports. Some chase it. Some make it. Others don't. And for many, life happens and that dream is traded for a different reality.

Many sports require supreme athletic talent to play at the highest level. Some have it. Some develop it. Others don't. And for many, the mind becomes an obstacle and potential talent yields to fear.

Many adults discover their true passion later in life. Some ignore it. Some follow it. Others won't. And for many, it's the will to win that reveals the heart of a champion.

After turning 40, Jon Fitzgerald accepts the challenge to chase his dream. His passion, combined with potential and total commitment, will take us on the journey of a lifetime.

Golf is truly a sport for everyone, played all over the world, by children, adults, seniors, and millions in between. The game has a rich history, from 18th Century rounds at St Andrews of Scotland to the Desert Classic Tournaments in Palm Springs, Hollywood's favorite playground.

Pros, amateurs and hackers alike share the same passion, or obsession with hitting the little white ball. And whether it's the thrill of smashing a 250-yard drive down the middle, sinking the 20-foot birdie putt or beating your buddies in the two-dollar Nassau, it's more than just a game. Golf is one of few sports where any age group can excel at a competitive level later in life. With the right commitment, an athlete can take their game to the highest level, have an opportunity to compete in professional tournaments and walk the hallowed grounds of the legends that came before them.

THE BACK NINE will follow one man's journey to make the tour.
