Currently inspiring a Hollywood remake with Helen Mirren, The Debt is an intense espionage thriller about three retired Mossad agents who share a dark secret. Three decades earlier, these agents became national heroes for capturing and killing the "Surgeon of Birkenau," a monstrous Nazi war criminal. But now, as one of the agents publishes her memoirs, their secret suddenly starts to unravel. As the film expertly weaves between the present and the past, we begin to see what really happened 30 years ago. Featuring a wonderful lead performance by the legendary Gila Almagor (Summer of Aviya), The Debt is a stylishly directed story of revenge that questions the meaning of heroism.
