The Law and the Lady

The cunning Jane Hoskins (Greer Garson) impersonates the wealthy Lady Jane Loverly in a bid to steal a fortune in jewels from San Francisco dowager Julia Worton (Marjorie Main), but her plans are interrupted by a romance with Juan Dinas (Fernando Lamas). Still, during a soiree at Mrs. Worton's mansion, greed gets the better of Hoskins, and she attempts to steal Mrs. Worton's pearls. Dians catches her in the act -- and tries to use the information to force his attentions on her. Offended at the insult to her honor, the jewel thief confesses all to Worton ... which begins a very shocking turn of events!
