Following her mother's death, Marianne discovers her father's will and with it, the existence of a woman deeply loved by him, Béatrice. To her, he bequeathed a Piaf record, a travel satchel, and cufflinks. Since his will was never honored, Marianne sets out to meet Béatrice.
