By federal law, the possession of cannabis is illegal in the United States. One consequence of this as that parents desperate to obtain cannabis oil with which to treat their children's cancer must turn to underground sources. WEED THE PEOPLE follows these families through uncharted waters as they take their children's survival into their own hands. Some of their miraculous outcomes provoke the unsettling question at the heart of the film: if weed is truly saving lives, why doesn't the government want people to access it?
This Abby Epstein and Ricki Lake film exposes startling practices, the paths parents take to obtain the medicine and the remarkable outcomes that these kids experience.
