Wild Boys of the Road

During the Great Depression, two California teenagers sneak aboard a Chicago-bound train, joining other youths including two streetwise girls. Kicked off in Ohio, they build a utopian city from sewer pipes and found items, where no one has more than anyone else. Tragedy disbands the group, leaving only the original boys and one girl to reach New York, now hungry, tired, and deeply depressed. Desperate, they join a ring of thieves, get caught, and encounter a kindly judge who instills in them a sense of hope to carry on.
