At the age of 20 Barney Miller was a promising up and coming local surfer both in longboard and shortboard riding with a completion sense and a positive outlook on life. Barney was also a confident and on his way to becoming a business owner of the white water rafting business "Rapid Rafting". Barney's future was looking bright and then in April 1999 he was involved in an awful motor vehicle accident. He was injured so badly that he was air lifted to Sydney and pronounced D.O.A. but he didn't give up. Barney survived the ordeal to be left with facing the devastating news of being a quadriplegic. But yet again Barney refused to give up, with will power and determination he fought to conquer the struggles with disability.
Fifteen years on and Barney is truly living his own advice and is showing an amazing recovery. He now has nearly total movement in his arms and sensation getting stronger in his lower extremities. Barney's positive outlook on life is showing everyone what can be done with hard work and dedication, and is an inspiration to everyone he meets.
