Young Farmer

On the Boyd family farm just outside Langton, Ontario, seven-year-old Roman, a passionate seventh-generation farmer, continues a 164-year family tradition. He receives seeds, plants, and supplies for his assigned 35-by-100-foot plot and, guided by his father Greg, a sixth-generation farmer, selects his seeds and plans his crops. From April planting through October harvest, Roman manages and sells his produce at the Simcoe Farmers Market, keeping all earnings. His siblings, 14-year-old Connor and 12-year-old Lauren, contribute to the farm in their own distinct ways.
