1992 Adventure drama
1h 48min
Recreating a real-life journey that Kiarostami undertook in 1990, the film takes place in the aftermath of an earthquake which killed over 50,000 people in northern Iran, as a man and his young son set out to learn the fate of the two young boys who starred in Kiarostami's Where is the Friend's Home? As they travel through the devastated landscape they speak to several survivors of the earthquake, the interviews gradually coalescing into a moving portrait of human resilience. The extended final shot can only be called heart-stopping in its riskiness and humour.
